Made it to The Renwick this morning for the final weekend of "The Art of Gaman"exhibit. My daughter and I also toured " A Revolution in Wood- The Bresler Collection and the permanent collection. Lunch was pizza and Moretti's at Ella's Woodfired Pizza on F Street- then made our way down to the National Gallery. Tomorrow is the last day for the exhibit "Pre Raphael Lens-British Photography and Painting 1848-1875 . The Chester Dale Collection- "From Impressionism to Modernism closes on July 31, 2011. We fortified ourselves with gelatto from the Cafe at the East Wing and made a quick trip through the galleries- we can't leave without spending some time in the Calder Room.
Mother Nature has put a kabosh on my plans to visit The Renwick to view "The Art of Gaman: Arts and Crafts from the Japanese Internment Camps 1942-1946. Exhibit closes Sunday, January 30th. I will try again on Saturday.
I am excited to start a new grad. class at McDaniel- "Painting Techniques of the Past". Encaustic, fresco, egg tempera and gilding will be explored. Four new media for me....four opportunities for total disaster!
